Job Description

Our client is looking for a Sales Director to lead a high performing sales team. This team is directly focused on selling to top ecommerce and omnichannel retailers, including those in the Fortune 1000.

The individual will work to achieve and surpass company sales goals by landing new business opportunities with durable goods retailers, including furniture, consumer electronics, auto, appliances, home improvement and other categories. This individual will be self-directed and comfortable working with ambiguity in a dynamic start-up environment. This is a player-coach role where you will guide your team members in their individual efforts as well as own key sales opportunities.

What are the core responsibilities?

  • Streamline sales processes, including lead generation, qualification, and forecasting, to achieve consistent, predictable results.
  • Regularly provide sales forecasts and performance reports to senior leadership, emphasizing key metrics and improvement areas.
  • Manage forecasting processes to enhance predictability within your team.
  • Monitor operational metrics like pipeline growth, sales cycle duration, and close rates.
  • Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative, and continuously learning culture in the sales team.
  • Guide and support the team to meet revenue targets and merchant acquisition goals; identify training and development opportunities.
  • Work with client success, marketing, product, technology, finance, and legal teams to synchronize sales efforts with business goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Demonstrate the integrity, attitude, and urgency expected from your team.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual revenue goals through proactive revenue-driving activities.
  • Navigate and manage complex, multi-stage deal cycles and establish relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at networking events, conferences, and face-to-face meetings with prospects.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

What are the minimum requirements?

  • Over 10 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in retail or e-commerce sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years leading sales teams with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Expertise in retail, e-commerce, consumer finance, and payments; fintech knowledge a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed multi-million-dollar sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a high sense of urgency for achieving professional goals.
  • Skilled communicator with a track record of executive engagement, strategic problem-solving, and deal closure.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with experience initiating and building partnerships.
  • Capable of managing critical internal conversations and client escalations effectively.
  • Committed to the company's mission, prioritizing company and team interests.
  • Flexible and adaptable in building relationships and negotiating smart deals.
  • Proficient in conducting in-depth prospect research and staying informed about competitors.
  • Experienced with CRM systems, Hubspot preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Data-driven with a focus on results.
  • This fully remote position requires significant travel (over 40%) for events, tradeshows, key merchant meetings, and team gatherings
