Position Summary:

We are actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary for our Group Life and AD&D products.  This position will be responsible for Active Employee Base Mortality Pricing (including Rate Manuals & Rate Filing and Medical Underwriting & Enrollment Mortality Analysis). This position will work-direct up to three associates on the Group Life Actuarial pricing team. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Leads pricing for Active Employee Groups - Base Mortality Pricing .

  •   Develops analysis, metrics, tools, and studies necessary to set macro pricing assumptions, including Rate Manuals for Group Life & AD&D.
  •   Ensures completion of rate filings and responses to inquiries or objections.
  •   Collaborates with the Strategic Solutions Development Team to launch new products or major product enhancements related to Group Life and AD&D.

    Leads Medical Underwriting and Enrollment mortality analysis .

  •   Responsible for financial projections & mortality analysis related to Medical Underwriting transformation and/or Enrollment initiatives.
  •   Collaborates with reinsurers and/or external consultants for expert review.

    Consults and advises on case pricing for Group Life and AD&D products .

  •   Provides actuarial consultation to the Case Underwriting team on plan design and pricing decisions for complex cases.

    Work-direct up to three other associates within the division .


  •   FSA designation, MAAA designation
  •   Group Life and AD&D pricing experience, including rate filings
  •   Thorough understanding of product risks, options for risk mitigation and management, and industry risk and competitor positioning
  •   Understanding of financial reporting, reserves, and capital
  •   Excellent communication skills to communicate with senior management, home office associates, consultants, and potential and existing clients
  •   Decision-making skills and ability to act independently 
  •   Adaptability in a rapidly changing environment

    Job Requirements:

  •   Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day 2-4 hours per day
  •   Ability to utilize telephone for 2-4 hours per day
  •   Ability to perform grasping tasks 2-4 hours per day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
