Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Outreach and Support

Western New England University is looking for a thoughtful leader to coordinate campus wide student outreach and support efforts, with a focus on promoting student agility, resilience, and persistence through agile mindedness and growth mindset.

The Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Outreach and Support will support and nurture the holistic development of the students at Western New England University. This individual is an effective relationship builder that works collaboratively with campus partners to coordinate resources, supports, and services for students facing challenges both in and outside of the classroom.

The position assists with the oversight of the Subdivision of Student Life and supports the University’s strategic plan and the goal of Student Affairs to promote student persistence and retention. This individual oversees the Peer Advisor program, providing support, mentorship and leadership development training to peer advisors, upper-class students who provide support and guidance to students during their first year at Western New England University.

Education: Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education or related field from an accredited institution required. Experience with case management, student conduct, or related student affairs experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of college students’ well-being and student development theories; experience in program development and management; experience in program assessment and data collection and analysis; demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with staff in other departments and members of the faculty in order to achieve goals and objectives in support of the University’s mission statement and strategic plan.

Skills: The ability to work with and mentor a diverse group of students; the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing; ability to present material to large and small audiences; experience with facilitating and developing trainings; competence with using student case management systems.
