The Town of Canaan has a Part Time (16 hours a week) opening at Town Hall for a Building Inspector. Duties include Inspecting all phases of residential building, plumbing and mechanical construction from footers to final inspection. Documenting results of inspections, assisting in interpretation of codes, investigating complaints of code violations, and answering building code and other general questions while in the office and in the field.
Candidates must have considerable knowledge of IRC and IBC building codes, ability to read and interpret building plans, and possess advanced technical school training or equivalent in plumbing, mechanical, and general construction.
Compensation starting at $21.00 and up to $25.00 depending on experience and certifications.
