Securian is hiring a Business Operations Representative to be based out of our corporate headquarters in Saint Paul, MN.

The selected candidate will join our Operational Support Services Team, which serves as an internal support center for work processes involving Individual Life and Annuity products. Associates within this department balance independent work with a team environment in an area that experiences fluctuating volumes, daily time constraints and continual improvements in operational efficiency.

The Business Operations Representative is a technical, problem-solving resource and liaison with career advisors, office staff and business units throughout the company. 

This position will also serve as a training resource for the department and team associates for more complex daily tasks. This position will respond to complex service inquiries and resolves complex issues with the Senior Team Services Rep tasks.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  •   Provides support and technical expertise to workflow changes, system enhancements, and ILAD initiatives/projects.
  •   Facilitates initial and ongoing training and quality review for Senior Team Services Reps and Administrator to ensure associates receive complete and sufficient training.
  •   Personal processing responsibilities that include complex returned mail and address change processes.
  •   Audits of procedures (regulatory and non-regulatory), and certifications of tasks completed.
  •   Work direction to associates that supports meeting service standards, planning for Admin out of office and coordinating resources to meet volume needs.


  •   Strong communication and service skills to professionally work with a variety of stakeholders within the department as well as other areas of the company
  •   Analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct research on issues with system functionality and to contribute to business requirements and testing
  •   Demonstrated time management skills
  •   Organizational skills and ability to multi-task to manage multiple issues simultaneously

    Preferred Qualifications

  •   Securian experience
  •   Experience with Individual Life and Annuity products
  •   Understanding of individual insurance products and work processes and procedures related to all areas within ILAD
  •   General knowledge of process workflows in Corporate Mail, Document Capture Management and Data Center Operations

    Physical job requirements:

  •   Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  •   Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 3-6 hours per day
  •   Ability to utilize phone for approximately 2-4 hours per day
  •   Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
