*At Securian Financial, the internal title for this position is Customer Operations Sr. Specialist.
We are actively seeking a talented Client Service Sr. Specialist who will be responsible for onboarding new Group Insurance clients, as well as providing ongoing service and ensuring client satisfaction and retention, by serving as the primary medical underwriting resource for the Employer and/or their Third-Party Administrator (TPA). In addition to client onboarding, this person is responsible for developing and executing specialized business plans and processes for medical underwriting. Through deep knowledge of underwriting, technology, and external partner capabilities, they help drive wide-ranging process improvements that transform the underwriting process for Securian’s clients.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary underwriting resource for clients, responsible for satisfaction and retention.
Medical underwriting subject matter expert during implementation, helping clients understand and implement an evidence of insurability process that will meet or exceed their objectives.
Maintain in-depth, up-to-date understanding of customer and channel partner needs, market trends and solutions.
Partner with Account Executives, Clients and TPAs to resolve large-scale coverage reconciliation discrepancies and mitigate financial impacts to employer’s plan.
Handle escalated customer, client service, and coverage issues in compliance with HIPAA privacy rules and other applicable regulations.
Use detailed knowledge and extensive experience to make independent decisions about customized handling processes and procedures for the applicant, client and/or vendor.
Deliver consultative solutions for Employer clients and TPAs to identify best fit for evidence of insurability technology integrations.
Develop contingency plans to keep tasks on track during implementation and ensure deadlines are met for go-live dates.
Understand complex, varying TPA capabilities and proactively identify coverage reconciliation errors and potential roadblocks during implementation projects.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to take initiative to negotiate customized solutions and respond appropriately.
Strong communication skills to exchange clear and concise written and verbal communications across internal and external audiences.
Ability to think strategically to identify opportunities for process improvements that drive client satisfaction.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload and adjust to changing priorities and meet established deadlines.
Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a collaborative team.
Generates new and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Anticipates patterns and links; looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.
Physical Job Requirements:
Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
Ability to utilize telephone for 2-4 hours per day
