We are actively seeking a Compensation Consultant to join our HR Center of Excellence’s Compensation team. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering various pay programs and policies across the organization including base pay programs, variable pay programs, pay policies, and ad hoc compensation projects and programs. Furthermore, this position will ensure that all pay programs meet business needs and support overall HR and business strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  •   Lead and participate in annual compensation processes and programs including merit planning, incentive planning, sales incentive administration, salary survey participation, and pay equity analysis.
  •   Consult with HR Business Partners and business leaders on a variety of compensation topics including incentive design, job design, market pricing analysis, pay decisions, etc.
  •   Conduct job evaluations for new and changing roles while maintaining the integrity of Securian’s Career & Compensation Framework.
  •   Evaluate and maintain pay policies to ensure they are compliant with internal and external standards and recommend/ implement revisions, as needed.
  •   Partner with HR and technology teams to ensure that HRIS system and compensation software meet the needs of Securian’s pay structures and programs.
  •   Stay abreast market trends including new pay trends, regulatory changes, industry trends, and other hot compensation topics

    Desired Experience:

  •   6+ years with experience in base pay design and administration, variable pay design, and market pricing practices
  •   Knowledge in compensation best practices and applicable regulations (FLSA, Wage Theft, etc.)
  •   Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
  •   Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate data findings and recommendations in a clear, concise manner
  •   Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  •   Detail-oriented; Problem- solver; self- starter

    Preferred Experience:

  •   Workday experience helpful, but not required
  •   Experience in insurance and/or financial services industry helpful, but not required
  •   Sales compensation experience helpful, but not required
  •   Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience​

    **This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement.**

    Physical Job Requirements:

  •   Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  •   Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  •   Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 1-3 hours per day
  •   Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
