African History.  Carleton College seeks applications for a one-year visiting assistant professorship in African history beginning September 1, 2023.  We welcome applicants with a specialization in any subfield of, approach to, or region of African history (southern, central, eastern, western, and northern Africa).  The teaching load is 2-2-1 on trimesters, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach a regional survey covering both pre- and postcolonial Africa as well as to design thematic courses and seminars based on their own interests and expertise.  We are looking for someone with a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse learners in a liberal arts environment. Some teaching experience is desirable, and the Ph.D. should be completed by June 2023.  To apply, please submit a letter of application, c.v., official transcript, dissertation abstract, and a sample syllabus.  All materials should be submitted via Carleton College’s career portal (go.carleton.edu/carletonjobs) and received by February 19, 2023 for fullest consideration.
